Beneath its simple, rustic, and approachable appearance lies a rich and ever-changing texture. Fired at high temperatures, the clay develops natural kiln-transformed colors that embody an unrefined charm, with a deep and earthy character. Subtle traces of the artisans’ handcrafting can still be seen on the surface.
Made from mineral-rich quartz clay and fired through a high-temperature oxidation-reduction process, the material possesses a structure similar to activated mineral stone, helping to soften water and enhance its smoothness. This results in a tea liquor that is exceptionally mellow, sweet, and full-bodied.
The clay body features a distinctive granular texture and excellent heat retention properties. Its ability to maintain temperature surpasses that of ordinary pottery and porcelain, making it particularly suitable for heavily oxidized or fully fermented teas, such as Dianhong (Yunnan Black Tea), Traditional Tieguanyin, Aged Teas, and Pu-erh Tea.
